TRENTON – Assemblyman John McKeon (D-West Orange) leaves open the prospect of creating other, accompanying legislation to free local government from keeping state aid and special education money under the proposed 2 percent property tax cap.
But in the meantime, both parties converge on the statutory cap.
“I want to congratulate this body on the bipartisan support,” says Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon (R-Little Silver). “Everyone in this body – Democrat and Republican – has recognized that property taxes are the issue. …This is but one action of many we have to take to resolve this issue.”
