A Must Read from The Courier Post raises questions about the validity of a 3rd District Congressional Candidate. PolitickerNJ published an interview with the candidate, supposed Tea Party activist Peter DeStefano, last week.
Check out the Courier Posts investigation here:
Republican challenger Jon Runyan’s campaign continued the Post’s legwork, finding documents that show DeStefano had been a registered Republican before switching parties in April of this year. He spent a short two months as a registered Democrat before changing his registration again in June to refelct no party affiliation.
Also dug up by the Runtan campaign is evidence that the two attorneys who notarized DeStefano’s petitions are both politically active Democrats.
UPDATE: The West Jersey Tea Party, formerly the Burlington County Tea Party has denounced DeStefano in a release.
“Peter DeStefano is not, and I emphasize, not a Tea Party candidate, by any stretch,” said Burlington County Tea Part founder Bill Haney. “He is a shill for someone else, but certainly not what the Tea Party stands for.”
