Alleged 'Cat Lady' Bandit Also Accused of Singing Death Metal

A vocalist for the death metal band Divine Infamy has been granted a measure of earthly infamy. Shanna Spalding, age 28, was arrested Wednesday night for a string of robberies committed by the so-called ‘Cat Lady’ bandit. Spalding, who goes by the stage name “Purgatory,” was nabbed in SoHo after she allegedly burst into a shop wearing a burqa, waving a gun and demanding money. According to the Post, Spalding “threatened to shoot up the place” if she didn’t get any cash.

Police have been seeking the ‘Cat Lady’ for robberies committed in Manhattan and Queens, where Spalding lives. Spalding has been charged with two stickups in Manhattan and is a suspect in several others dating back to April, 2009.

Spalding’s band is unsigned. They’ve published music here, where they posted songs with titles like “The Fallen Queen in Forsaken Times.” Divine Infamy’s fallen lead singer is facing weapons possession, menacing and robbery charges.
