Democrats, Obama Target Fox News, Republicans Over Donation

Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. donated $1 million (AKA “Rupert’s pocket lint”) to the Republican Governor’s Association and you guessed it–no one on the other side of the aisle is happy about this. According to Howard Kurtz, the following was part of the Democratic Governor’s Association response, sent to Roger Ailes and Fox News today:

In the interest of some fairness and balance, I request that you add a formal disclaimer to your coverage any time any of your programs covers governors or gubernatorial races between now and Election Day.

The director of Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee, sent a notice out to past donors to Barack Obama’s presidential campaign. The email subject was simply “Fox News” and the message said, in part:

It’s one thing to echo Republican talking points and hire Sarah Palin for political “analysis.” It’s another thing to cut those Republicans a seven-figure check to fund their attack ads and robo-calls.

The only way we’ll be able to stand up to News Corp. is if we all chip in and stand together — to put hard-hitting ads online and on TV, train the very best volunteers, and organize in every city of every state. But all this costs money, and we need you to help.

The downhill run to 2012 moves a little faster each day. Democrats, Obama Target Fox News, Republicans Over Donation
