Carine Roitfeld’s is putting out a plus-sized issue of French Vogue for October, which marks the magazine’s 90th anniversary.
Ad pages for are up nearly 100 percent over October last year if you count the 276 pages of advertising and 104 pages of congratulations from designers in this year’s issue. According to Memo Pad, the magazine will come bundled with photographs from the French Vogue archive printed on heavy stock and, to cover the cost of printing, the cover price has been raised to 5.90 euros (still cheaper than a Gourmet newsstand cookbook). The business side expects the issue to be a big hit and has ordered 280,000 copies from the press, 40 percent more than a usual run.
Stateside there is an abundance of fashion advertising dollars floating around as well, so every title is a fashion magazine.
