Today In Ethics Videos: Lazio Hits Cuomo, Who Hits Albany

At least one aide for Rick Lazio’s campaign was staking out Andrew Cuomo’s appearance at Charlie Rangel’s birthday fundraiser last night, and the campaign wasted no time in rolling out this web video, highlighting the fact that Mr. Cuomo didn’t take questions from her, or anyone else, before or after the event.

The video, as you can see, contrasts Mr. Cuomo with Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver–although, in fairness, none of the statewide elected officials, nor the mayor, stayed for questions.

Not to be outdone, Mr. Cuomo is out with his new ethics ad morning, a somber black-and-white number with a chilling piano score. In keeping with his strategy so far, Mr. Cuomo’s ad hits Albany, without acknowledging his opponent. Another difference: Mr. Cuomo’s ad will appear on television–thanks to his flush campaign coffers–while Mr. Lazio’s ad is web only.
