What if the boat sinks…?

State Sen Sandra Cunningham’s Sept. 16th fundraiser features a guest list packed with Democratic luminaries and will be held aboard the yacht Valiant out of Jersey City.

The list of honored guests for the $500 per head affair includes retired U.S. Sen. Bob Torricelli, Senate President Steve Sweeney, State Sen. and former Gov. Dick Codey and State Sen. Ray Lesniak.  The special guest for the evening is U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez.

Bad blood remains between Codey and Sweeney, the latter having replaced Codey as senate president following a power struggle between the two.  You have to wonder how the two will fare confined to a boat for three hours.  Unsubstantiated rumors abound that Republican State Sen. Michael Doherty has requested an invite so he can get another crack at Lesniak after their much publicized near brawl in the senate chambers earlier this year.

Perhaps more impressive than the guest list is the fact that Torricelli is the first one listed.  Not a bad rehab for “The Torch.”

The list has a lot of back benchers in the state secretly hoping for a squall.
