227 Mulberry Street
In general, it was not a good week for hipster clothing retailers, as Crain’s reports that struggling American Apparel could be forced to close some of its 20 New York locations.
But thanks to the announcement that the Clothing Warehouse has opened a new Nolita location hawking vintage T-shirts, all is not lost in the way of ironic attire.
Robert K. Futterman & Associates arranged the 1,021-square-foot lease at 227 Mulberry Street, where the Clothing Warehouse will debut a new concept store, Scout Vintage T-Shirts.
Neighboring retailers include Lilith, Versani, Karen Karch, John Fluevog Shoes, B. Tiff, Calvin Tran, Charlotte Ronson, Coqueta and Ksub. American Apparel also has a couple of locations in the area, at 712 Broadway and 112 Spring Street.
Rents in the developing retail area have been particularly hard hit in the past couple of years, and have fallen to around $100 a square foot, according to The Real Deal.
Sal Ferrigno and Richard Gelber of RKF represented the landlord, the Hakimian Organization. The tenant was represented by Karen Spielberger of Optimal Spaces.
