It took me 11 days to find this, but there is actually a delicious food stand here at the U.S. Open. After Sam Sifton’s bad review of the food court at-large, and my trip to that ghastly Cosmpolitan food place, I finally found a little bit of heaven (by Open standards). That Masters Chef stand, tucked in the back-end of the Court 7 bleachers in the South Plaza, is actually kind of great, and affordable. We made a little bit of fun of the Master Chefs bake-off last weekend– “I’m going to make tilapia burgers”–but, hey, they’ve delivered on putting together some reliable food for me.
There aren’t a ton of options, but most of the food ranges between $9.50 and $10.50. You can get a chicken or steak panino–both really good–for $9.50 or a pulled pork sandwich for the same price. Pork tacos run you to $10.50. It actually fills you up, and it’s tasty. Recommended!
