Crudup’s recent portrayals of government employees include J. Edgar Hoover in Public Enemies and the naked blue human superweapon in Watchmen. We’re hoping his portrayal of Geithner will synthesize the most gripping elements of both characters, but we’re not entirely sure HBO is looking to paint Geithner as a radioactive cross-dresser.

So what we’re really hoping for is that HBO cast Jason Lee as Ben Bernanke, so he can say to Crudup, “From the very beginning, we said I’m the front man, and you’re the central banker with mystique. That’s the dynamic we agreed on.”
