Thursday, Sept. 9

Must-See Show: Rachel Comey, Pier 59 Studios, 4 p.m.

Background: The brand is known for attention to detail, modern silhouettes with vintage accents and downtown-hipster clients.

Catch Them if You Can: Richard Chai, Vena Cava, Billy Reid

Friday, Sept. 10

Must-See Show: Jason Wu, 82 Mercer Street, 2 p.m.

Background: Michelle Obama famously chose one of Mr. Wu’s gowns for her husband’s inaugural balls, and his collections are indeed befitting a first lady: classic, and not too out-there.

Catch Them if You Can: Duckie Brown, Ports 1961, Nicole Miller

Saturday, Sept. 11

Must-See Show: Prabal Gurung, The Studio at Lincoln Center, 1 p.m.

Background: Mr. Gurung is still green (this is only his second fall Fashion Week), but the Nepalese designer has made waves for his careful draping and minimalist, geometric patterns.

Catch Them if You Can: Alexander Wang, Patrik Ervell, Altuzarra

Sunday, Sept. 12

Must-See Show: Diane von Furstenberg, The Theater at Lincoln Center, 4 p.m.

Background: You know her for her signature ’70s wrap dress, but DVF’s more recent collections have included everything from simple shifts to billowing dresses in exotic prints. She’s always playful and never boring.

Catch Them if You Can: Derek Lam, Catherine Malandrino, Thakoon

Monday, Sept. 13

Must-See Show: Marc Jacobs, New York State Armory, 8 p.m.

Background: We assume you know a little something about Marc Jacobs. His most recent resort collection called to mind a lady spy in a French film from the ’60s–but like another famous MJ, Jacobs is a master of reinvention, so who knows what we’ll see on Monday?

Catch Them if You Can: Carolina Herrera, Tracy Reese, Halston

Tuesday, September 14

Must-See Show: Vera Wang, The Stage at Lincoln Center, 11 a.m.

Background: Ms. Wang’s ready-to-wear collections, like her much-beloved bridal lines, tend toward the gorgeous: curve-accentuating, endlessly feminine styles rendered in lush, touchable fabrics.

Catch Them if You Can: Elie Tahari, Badgley Mischka, Rodarte

Wednesday, Sept. 15

Must-See Show: Marchesa, Chelsea Art Museum, 3:30 p.m.

Background: Designer Georgina Chapman is no stranger to Hollywood high style; she’s married to the thundering Miramax-imus Harvey Weinstein. Ms. Marchesa, her label with partner Keren Craig, shows elegant, architectural, Oscar-worthy looks.

Catch Them if You Can: Michael Kors, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Proenza Schouler

Thursday, Sept. 16

Must-See Show: Oscar de la Renta, 583 Park Avenue, 5 p.m.

Background: It’s a foregone conclusion that this collection will spawn a hundred red-carpet moments; all the others do. But how many designers also captivate Upper East Side ladies?

Catch Them if You Can: J. Mendel, Calvin Klein, Naeem Khan
