Keith Ellison, the first Muslim member of Congress will be in town this weekend and attending a happy hour with the young Democrats group DL21C.
Ellison is in town for the ACLU candlelit vigil for religious freedom tonight.
The event will be held at fancy cocktail bar Ward III, though since he is Muslim, he won’t be drinking. Ellison represents the Minneapolis area in Congress and converted to Islam while in college. He took the oath of office on Thomas Jefferson’s Koran, which, needlessly to say, upset some people.
DL21C head Elizabeth Caputo also says that several candidates for office have pledged to stop by.
