GOP Goes On The Air, Pledges To “Take Back New York”

The state Republican Party is out with a new ad, which, according to G.O.P chairman Ed Cox, focuses on the “Republican message of spending less, real private sector job growth, and lowering the tax burden on small businesses.”

The ad blames Democrats for the state’s economic woes (perhaps a tad unfairly) and for turning Albany into a national punchline (okay, a bit more fairly.) It also juxtaposes scary looking images of Pedro Espada, David Paterson, John Sampson, Hank Morris, Eliot Spitzer, and Tom DiNapoli with one of Andrew Cuomo and proclaims that “it’s time to take back New York and save our state before it’s too late.”

The ad is timed to coincide with Take Back New York tour that will feature Cox barnstorming around the state on behalf of Republican candidates. A G.O.P source said that the buy would be substantial, but did not have details immediately available. Will update as they come in.

That tour, however, as Liz Benjamin noted, is not entirely a local effort.
