He leads Republican Rick Lazio by more than 30 points, and Tea Party favorite Carl Paladino by close to 40. But 63 percent of New Yorkers say the attorney general has not done enough to explain how he would fix New York’s budget problems.

“Is it fair to ask if Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, as the runaway favorite for Governor, has done enough to tell New Yorkers where he stands on issues?  Voters think it is.  Almost two- thirds of New Yorkers would like him to say more,” said Maurice Carroll, director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.

“Rick Lazio or Carl Paladino – take your pick,” he added.  “Cuomo trounces either of them.” 

The poll also gives Kirsten Gillibrand a 15 point lead over her nearest rival, former Congressman Joe DioGuardi, and has her up over former Nassau County legislator Bruce Blakeman by 18 and former Bush adviser David Malpass by 21.

Yesterday, Malpass and DioGuardi were arguing about who is more electable in a general election.
