New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Carl Paladino is taking a very unique approach to dealing with the media. He nearly came to blows with the New York Post‘s State Editor Fred Dicker tonight after Dicker asked him what evidence he had for allegations that Attorney General Andrew Cuomo had had “paramours.” He accused Dicker of being Cuomo’s “stalking horse,” complained that the reporter had sent “one of your goons” to follow his 10-year-old daughter, and threatened, “I’ll take you out.” The videotape, from State of Politics, is really quite remarkable.
UPDATE: The video was apparently taken by Capitol Tonight’s Kaitlyn Ross on her cell phone, which explains the shaky quality. The event is the annual meeting of the New York State Business Council, which we are going to go out on a limb and say isn’t usually this interesting. Interceding between the two men is Paladino campaign manager, who accuses Dicker of being a Cuomo loyalist, because, it sounds like, he tipped Dicker off to a story that Dicker didn’t use. Needless to say, a conflict between Call ‘Em Like I See ‘Em Carl and Dicker, a self-described equally opportunity prick, was perhaps inevitable.
