In the Staten Island G.O.P congressional primary, reports are coming in naming Michael Grimm as the victor.
The race was especially ugly, with accusations that Grimm was wearing phony Army ribbons in campaign photos and that his opponent, Michael Allegretti, did not live in the district.
Grimm would face a tough general election fight against Michael McMahon.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Commitee just sent over a release picking up where Allegretti left off and slamming Grimm:
“Over the course of the Republican primary one thing became crystal clear: Michael Grimm can’t be trusted. Conflicting stories about his record and his past have come to define Michael Grimm’s campaign and voters deserve answers if he hopes to gain their trust, let alone their vote. It’s time for Michael Grimm to come clean.”
