Senator Chuck Schumer forwarded an email from his California colleague, Barbara Boxer, about trying to drop a “money bomb” on her self-funding opponent, former HP executive Carly Fiorina.
What is a “money bomb”? Senator Boxer explains:
“A money bomb is an online fundraising drive where we can demonstrate our campaign’s strong grassroots strength — all on just one day.”
Of course. Boxer–who is in a dead heat–is trying to raise from 10,000 individual donors, and Schumer–who is not in much of a contest–is doing his best to help out.
Schumer calls her “an immensely valuable ally” who is “facing a strong right-wing opponent with an almost unlimited ability to self-fund, so she needs help from all over the country.”
It would be remiss not to mention that Schumer is one of the most prolific fundraisers in Congress (currently sitting on the largest war chest), and that he could perhaps make a play for majority leader if the post comes open–though Schumer has insisted many times that he’s strongly hoping his friend Harry Reid keeps his seat.
