The picnic is set to begin at 12:30, 30 minutes before the Giants season opener and first home game at their new stadium.  Eagles fans will have a shot at hitting their teams’ home opener, which begins at 4:30, but only if State Chair  John Wisniewski lets them out early.

Completely unsubstaniated rumor has it that the state Republicans are giving free tickets to the game with any party registration switch filed by Sept. 11.

By the way, for you non-football fans, the event is scheduled to be held at Burkes Park on Washington Road in Sayreville.  Tickets are $50 per person and $100 for a family of 4.
