These 5 Tech Startups Get To Pitch The Daily News

Five NYC startups have been selected to pitch The Daily News for a chance to partner on a new web venture.

The event is being run by NextNY, a group focused on young companies in the NYC tech scene.

Charlie O’Donnell, an entrepreneur in residence at First Round Capital and one of the folks behind NextNY, just tweeted out the winners.

Where I Stand, UpNext, Skillslate, Olapic and NearSay get to deliver their proposal to The Daily News this Thursday.

No telling yet if these startups will bring anything intereting to the table, or if anything can fix the dilema that local papers face. But the format of VCs connecting young NYC startups with established businesses for a pitch session is novel and will certainly keep the energy level in the local tech scene humming.
