TRENTON – The Senate is gearing up for two votes right now: one that would override Gov. Chris Christie’s veto of women’s healthcare funding and a second that would enable a Senate Committee to exert subpoena power to determine what went wrong with the state’s federal Race to the Top application.

Sources say the first will fail without a super-majority of 27 votes, and state Sen. Loretta Weinberg (D-Teaneck) has already planned a press conference after the session with Assemblywoman Linda Stender (D-Fanwood) to announce an alternative funding plan, probably federal.

Senate Majority Leader Barbara Buono (D-Metuchen) told PolitickerNJ.com she is confident she will have the necessary 21 votes to get her subpoena resolution passed during the session, but sources say it’s not locked in right now.  Up Next: Senate Session
