Banksy Scripts Dark Simpsons Opening

Last night The Simpsons went a little dark in the opening credits couch gag, which showed Korean animators working in slave-labor to produce the cels to animate the scene, and produce piles and piles of Simpsons merchandise, slaughtering kittens and tormenting unicorns to do so. The sequence was storyboarded by the British street artist Banksy -whose graffiti littered Springfield before the couch gag- and was distinct from the show’s other tongue-in-cheek anti-network jibes in that it wasn’t actually that funny.  “This is what you get when you outsource,” producer Al Jean joked to the BBC.
