Bronx Sex Worker-Turned-Teacher Could Pose Nude — to Protest Bloomberg

Art teacher Melissa Petro once had her own class at PS 70 in the Bronx. By many accounts, she was very good at what she did — young, energetic, and basically the kind of teacher Mayor Michael Bloomberg is fighting to keep in the classroom. Art teacher Melissa Petro, however, is no longer advising students on their Manets and Monets. As we’ve reported, she was reassigned after writing an editorial for The Huffington Post about her personal experiences soliciting sex on Craigslist.

Since the original revelation, Petro has been more and more open about her past — and thorough — sexual history. She’s gone onstage at the Bowery Poetry Club and baby-talked her way through racy monologues, and has begun to write her memoirs about, among other things, working as an exotic dancer in Oaxaca, Mexico.

But despite these exciting developments, Petro has yet to regain her teaching post. Now, High Society magazine is offering her $60,000 — the same as her year’s salary — to pose nude. High Society says it’s a “political statement against Mayor Bloomberg,” the New York Post reports.

“We thought he really undressed her by taking away her job,” High Society representative Daniel Nardio said in the Post story. “She was open about what she did and good at her job.”

If High Society is able to convince her to make this figurative stripping down literal, Petro will appear au naturel in the December issue of the classic hardcore porn rag.

Petro has not said whether or not she will agree to be photographed naked for revenge against Mayor Bloomberg.
