State Sen. Sandra Cunningham (D-Jersey City) today told PolitickerNJ.com that “everything is fine in caucus” and that she intends to run for re-election next year in the as-yet-not redistricted 31st.

“Yes, I’m definitely running,” Cunningham said.

Widow of the late Jersey City Mayor Glenn Cunningham, a former U.S. Marshal who was friends with fellow law enforcement guy Chris Christie, Cunningham has a close relationship with the governor. A “yes” vote on the governor’s budget, she wounded some fellow Democratic senators in her caucus when she all but dismissed the Legislative Oversight Committee hearing on fired Education Commissioner Bret Schundler.

Asked about the governor’s job performance to date, the senator replied, “No comment.”
