The average person is resistant to change and afraid of new technology. It takes a special combination of brains and charm to move experiments out of the lab and into the limelight.

This week The Observer‘s Leon Neyfakh profiled New York’s particular breed of nerd, a group defined as much by their rich social lives and outgoing personalities as their coding skills.
