VSL// A moving chronicle of a marriage unlike any you’ve seen

Maintaining a happy marriage, as we all know, can be a challenge once the honeymoon is over. The (very) moving HBO documentary Monica & David (premiering 10/14) chronicles the extraordinary story of Monica and David—two adults living with Down syndrome—through their first year of marriage.

First-time director Alexandra Codina’s film (which won best documentary at the 2010 Tribeca Film Festival) uses personal interviews and on-scene footage to great effect to show the complexities that face the couple and the families that support them. It’s a movie full of everyday dramas we can all relate to, but a lot of extraordinary ones, too—with lots of romance, laughter and (yes!) love along the way.
