Curbed just spotted the most recent potentially record-setting, mind-boggling sale at 15 Central Park West, involving a staff studio that traded for merely half that price a couple of years ago. But with only 27 apartments for residents’ staff, the glorified glove compartments are fetching ever-higher prices. Previously $1.55 million dropped by a Russian was considered the standard.

Curbed cheekily calls the apartment a generous Christmas gift. Given that Ashok Varadahn, who is just a babe in his early 30s and is already one of Goldman Sachs’ top young guns, paid $16.3 million for his own place, we hope that’s not all the maid is getting.
