Edison Council President Charles Tomaro is the organizational favorite to succeed Freeholder Mildred Scott when the Middlesex County Democratic Organization addresses the coming vacancy at a special convention on Jan. 4th, 2011 at the Pines.

Scott won a Nov. 2nd contest to succeed Sheriff Joe Spicuzzo, opening up the prospect of a contest for her freeholder seat.

Former Perth Amboy Council President Peter Jimenez is also said to be interested but sources make Tomaro the frontrunner.

“He’s expressed an interest to me that Perth Amboy deserves a spot, but Edison deserves a spot,” confirmed Spicuzzo, who is the county Democratic Party chairman.
