14th District state Senator-elect Linda Greenstein is the first senator from that district that does not live in Hamilton. Going back to 1981, when Trenton and Hamilton were carved out, the three previous senators – Democrat Francis McMannimon and Republicans Peter Inverso and Bill Baroni – were all from Hamilton Township.
Greenstein is also the first senator to win the general election who did not win Hamilton Township. Republican Tom Goodwin won Hamilton by roughly 400 votes, but Greenstein’s showing in her home county of Middlesex swept her into office.
