TRENTON – Senate Judiciary Chair Nick Scutari (D-Linden) and state Sen. Joe Kyrillos (R-Middletown) clashed on the floor of the senate this afternoon on the subject of boards and commission appointments.
Kyrillos blamed Democrats for delays, and said it was the worse he has seen during his time in the legislature.
“I asked for all the confirmations that have been held up – not for weeks – but months,” said Kyrillos, who mentioned a backlog of eight pages. “I have never seen it like this. This is an institutional blemish on our record.”
Scutari fumed in response.
“Your side has used senatorial courtesy to block nominations,” the Democrat railed.
The spat occurred moments after the senators affirmed Anthony Kerns to serve as Hunterdon County prosecutor.
