U.S. Rep. Albio Sires (D-West New York) joined colleague Dan Boren (D-OK) in calling for the resignation of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

“(W)e need some new direction and I think the best way is for her to move on,” Sires told Roll Call [subscriber only].

“We don’t need a lightning rod,” he told the website. “We’ll have to see who steps forward (as a replacement).”

Sires told PolitickerNJ the 60-plus seat loss is irreparable. “I supported her from the beginning,” he said.

Names like Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Caucus Chairman  John Larson (D-CT) will be circulating among others, like Rep. Heath Shuler (D-NC) who put his name out there today as a candidate.
