The new date is Jan. 8th. At least six canddiates are vying to replace Linda Greenstein, who vacated her assembly seat to assume the district senate seat she won in the November general election.

Sources say that Middlesex County Democratic Chairman Joe Spicuzzo refused to meet at Mercer County College, where the convention had been planned and also wants more time for Middlesex candidates to campaign for the spot.

Reached Monday, Spicuzzo said he had originally said the seat would go to a Mercer County candidate but that has changed.  That deal was made, Spicuzzo said, before any candidates from Middlesex expressed an interest in the seat.  Now two candidates have come forward, so the process will remain open, with the commitee members deciding on who will fill the seat.
