As if the snow weren’t trouble enough

Police went to the home of Newark Council President Donald Payne, Jr. tonight to confiscate an unknown powdery substance the councilman received, according to sources.

It turned out to be a false alarm, but the delivery contained a threat to the council president’s life.

The Newark Police Department, Newark Fire Department and HazMat were all on the scene in the South Ward.

The substance turned out to be non-toxic but police are taking the incident very seriously, sources say.
