The incoming Republican freeholder majority in Bergen County released notice today that they will nominate Freeholder John Driscoll as chairman of the board, and freeholder-elect Maura DeNicola to be vice chair when the board reorganizes in January.

The support for Driscoll and DeNicola was pledged during a Republican freeholder caucus meeting last week.

“The task before us is daunting, but we will work together to tackle the problems facing us,” Driscoll said.

DeNicola, whose term as mayor of Franklin Lakes expires at the end of the year, said, “For eight years the Democrats spent and borrowed taxpayer money without regard for the impact on homeowners. Our task is to immediately stop the wasteful spending, and refocus county government, which is what we promised voters we would do.”
