Jean Nouvel’s 100 Eleventh Street is one of the best buildings of the year, with boldface buyers gobbling up apartments. Yet the sky, or at least the penthouse, appears to be falling at the Frenchman’s masterpiece in the clouds. According to city records, one of the building’s most expensive units has just sold at a $3.7 million discount.
One of three penthouses in Mr. Nouvel’s Chelsea condo has been purchased for $13.2 million, a steep drop from the $16.9 million the place was originally listed for in the spring. The buyer is listed as 100 Eleventh Penthouse LLC.
There’s been quite a bit of sawing going on in the building–and not just to the controversial lobby. Kelsey Grammar recently bought a place downstairs for $6.5 million, which appears to have come at a 14 percent discount, from an ask of $7.52 million.
The most expensive unit in the building, PHA, is still listed at the original price of $22 million.
