Before the dust had even begin to settle on the Census Bureau’s announcement that New Jersey will lose a congressional seat pundits had already begin speculating on the changing Electoral College.

Political Scientist Larry Sabato speculated the shifting college would mean a pick-up of 6 to 8 votes for the 2012 Republican candidate, based on population – and vote- gains in the south.
