Good Morning, George Lucas!

George Lucas, two of your movies have just been named to the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry for being “culturally, historically or aesthetically” significant.

Yes, even in these days of bicameral high tension, something affiliated with Congress managed to rally behind The Empire Strikes Back and Electronic Labyrinth: THX 1138 4EB. This may usher in a new era of good feelings.

Of course, you didn’t direct Empire. And we’re a little curious as to why they selected your student film over the feature version you later made, but we suppose it’s a storage issue. It’s the Library of Congress, not Netflix. You gotta ration out the space, minutes-wise.

Anyway, congrats.

Love,

The Observer Good Morning, George Lucas!
