Parker Spitzer Won’t Ditch Parker, Will Continue to Cater to Spitzer

Today Brian Stelter offers a nice check-in with the team behind Parker Spitzer that offers CNN’s standard “we’re not pleased with the ratings, but we’re patient” response to the show, and defuses rumors that Kathleen Parker will leave, despite a Page Six-making set walk-off.

There are many intimations at tension behind the scenes, including this gem.

In the future, Ms. Parker said she expected to have more airtime to talk about the social and cultural issues that she covers in her columns. “We’re definitely going to be mixing it up more,” she said.

In a separate interview, Mr. Spitzer said, “We’ll talk about movies sometimes, sports, we’ll have everything under the sun, but we are clearly a political show.”

Regarding her walk-off, Ms. Parker blamed the normal “editorial and political tension” involved in TV production and then said: “That’s how human beings are made.”
