Mr. Darabont may intend to have the second season written by freelancers. He is himself the writer of The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile and the film version of Frankenstein where Robert DeNiro played the monster.

The show has done well in the ratings, and praised by critics, so it’s hard to imagine that Mr. Darabont was displeased with the quality of his current team’s output. It remains to be seen whether or not the freelance rumors are true.
