Katie Couric may be slated for a guest run on Glee, but life as anchor of CBS Evening News is not all song and dance
CBS has begun preliminary contract negotiations with Couric’s agent, reports Bloomberg. Her five-year contract expires in May.
CBS is looking to both cut her $15 million salary and expand her responsibilities, according to Bloomberg‘s sources. CNN is reported to be interested in snapping up Couric as well.
The proposed pay cut comes amid falling ratings–Evening News is down 24 percent since Couric took over, even though CBS prime time beat out the other three network competitors this season. (Stop ruining the curve, Two and a Half Men!) In the future Couric could be contracted for a 40-minute show based in New York and eligible for syndication.
