As expected, former White House budget director and occasional New York Times scribe Peter Orszag is joining Citigroup, the megabank announced today. He’ll be working in Citi’s Strategic Advisory Group, a high-level team of banking executives, as a vice chairman.

Says Dr. Orszag: “I am pleased to be joining Citi, with its unmatched global platform and dedication to providing clients with quality service and advice. I look forward to working with the experienced, dynamic team at Citi.” Also this from Citigroup:

Consistent with applicable ethics rules, Dr. Orszag’s role at Citi will not involve contact with U.S. federal government officials.

Congratulations, professor! The New York Times says your new salary “is likely to be far higher than what he earned as member of President Obama’s cabinet.” Go get that paper.
