U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone (D-6) endured two slights during the reading of the constitution in the House chambers this morning.
During the annual reading, Pallone drew the portion that requires the president to be a natural born citizen of the United States, a section that has gotten more press in the past two years than just about any other as the so-called “birther” movement insists that the president was in fact born in Kenya and not eligible to be president.
As he was reading, a woman in the gallery began shouting “except Obama, except Obama. Help us Jesus.”
The look on Pallone’s face is priceless as he tries to figure out who is shouting at him. The interruption and subsequent tossing of the woman so frazzled the members that U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID), who was presiding over the event, became confused overwhether Pallone was done speaking, recognizing “the gentleman from Virginia” who was keeping time at the event and designating members to speak.
