After competing to a tie last November, Democrat Owen McCarthy defeated Republican Robert Ferrante, 998 to 669, in today’s special election in Manasquan.
That means the council maintains a 3-3 split with a Democratic mayor serving as tiebreaker.
The winners took addded delight in beating Republicans commanded by Gov. Chris Christie, who sent a robo call into Manasquan Monday night, paid for by the Monmouth Republicans.
Manasquan is nearly 2-1 Republican in registration.
