Gaming bills escape Assembly

TRENTON – State lawmakers passed several gaming bills late Monday afternoon, including establishing a Casino Gaming Study Commission to evaluate the possibility of casino gaming in Bergen County.

Although Assemblyman Tony Bucco (R-Boonton) objected to the proposed makeup of the commission – eight members appointed by Democrats, five by Republicans – the bill passed the lower chamber 61-16.

In addition, lawmakers adopted a law to permit internet wagering at Atlantic City casinos in certain circumstances, and another to dedicate revenues subject to the sales and use taxes to provide incentives for breeding and development of racehorses.
