Steve Israel was on ‘Hardball’ last night, and was asked directly if Democrats are aiming to take back the House with the same leadership–i.e. Nancy Pelosi and Steny Hoyer–in 2012.
Pelosi is often cited as a reason why Democrats lost the House in 2010, and the prospect of her retaking the gavel could hurt efforts to regain the majority. That job is tasked to Steve Israel at the moment in his capacity as head of the DCCC. And he is often mentioned as a possible leader in the House. Needless to say, he ducked host Chris Matthews’ question, and talked instead about fighting for the middle class and preserving health care.
