The Politicker has learned about a number of new hires in the local political scene in recent days.
T.J. Helmstetter will be replacing Dan Levitan as the spokesman for the Working Families Party. Levitan left the WFP to go work for the lefty PR firm Berlin Rosen.
Helmstetter comes to the WFP from Blue State Digital, the online fundraising firm that worked on Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. While there Helmstetter worked on Dan Savage’s immensely successful “It Gets Better” project and Madonna’s “Raising Malawi” project. He previously worked on the failed New Jersey Congressional campaign of Dennis Shulman.
In other news, ace Boro Park political operative Simcha Eichenstein has left The Friedlander Group to take a job doing government affairs for Comptroller Tom DiNapoli. Eichenstein is a vet of a number of city and state elections, providing outreach to Brooklyn’s Hasidic communities.
Also, Pat Barrientos, a longtime aide to Assembly man David Weprin when he was in the City Council and then Mathieu Eugene has taken a gig as deputy chief-of-staff to Julissa Ferreras.
Best of luck to all of them
