O’Donnell replaces former Chief of Staff Bob Decheine, who was arrested late last year on charges of sexual solicitation of a minor. PolitickerNJ first reported last month that O’Donnell was Rothman’s choice to replace Decheine.

O’Donnell comes to Rothman’s 9th District office from Illinois, where he served as chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Phil Hare.  O’Donnell is a former chief of staff to 12th District U.S. Rep. Rush Holt.  Prior to his stint with Holt, O’Donnell was director of congressional affairs for the Continental Consulting Group Corporation in Alexandria, Va. from 2002 to 2007.

Rothman also promoted Marc Cevasco, who served as chief of staff when Decheine was abruptly fired, to deputy chief of staff from legislative director and Jonathan Moore to senior legislative assistant from legislative assistant.
