Session on hold as Assembly hammers out amendments on AC, COAH bills

TRENTON – An Assembly session scheduled for 1 p.m. had not begun as of 2:30.

The Democratic caucus was no where to be found, while the Republican leadership stirred in the hall as they waited to swear in their newest member, Mercer County Freeholder Dan Benson.

Chief sponsor of S1, the affordable housing bill up for a vote in both houses today, state Sen. Ray Lesniak (D-Elizabeth) was still going round-for-round with Republican Sen. Jennifer Beck (R-Red Bank) after lunch.

Beck was not at all pleased with Lesniak’s “final” amendments this morning when the two began going over the bill in the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

Statehouse sources also said there are still considerable questions on the Atlantic City bills up for a vote.
