Super spokesman Shams Tarek has sent over word that he has landed in the press shop of Long Island Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy, whom Tarek describes as “a nurse & citizen legislator who is known best as a national leader against gun violence but also for her bipartisan approach and success in a swing district that’s very favorable for Republicans and others to the right of her.”
Tarek last worked handling press for Nassau district attorney Kathleen Rice’s failed run for attorney general, and prior to that, as the spokesman for the New York Senate Democratic Campaign Committee, where he was known among reporters for his faultless recitation of party registration numbers in each of the state’s 62 Senate districts (the basic gist of the Shams Spiel was that Democrats were competitive in every single district everywhere in New York State.)
Other names from the 2010 campaign have landed in new spots as well. James Allen, who helped generate buzz around an unknown ex-hedge fund lawyer named Reshma Saujani, will now handle press for Congressman John Carney of Delaware. And Lauren Passalacqua, after a tour of duty in the Eric Dinallo for Attorney General campaign, and then heading back into the theater for Cuomo 2010, has resurfaced in the press shop of new attorney general Eric Schneiderman.
