U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez celebrated Black History month Sunday with “Standing on the Shoulders of Giants,” a salute to black New Jerseyans.
Menendez honored the legislative black caucus led by Chairman Ron Rice. All were in attendance.
The event was emceed by author and “Apprentice” alum Randall Pinkett.
The event, attended by over 500 people, was held at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens.
The program inluded performances bythe Long Branch Middle School Anti-Bullying Crew, the Cathedral International Choir of Perth Amboy, and Shamsuddin Abdul-Hamid, winner of the 5th annual New Jersey competition “Poetry Out Loud.”
