Ruben J. Ramos, Jr. (D-Hoboken)

Councilman Ruben J. Ramos, Jr. is a lifelong resident of the City of Hoboken. He was first elected to the City Council in 1999, as the youngest member of that body in history, representing the Fourth Ward. Ruben was elected to an At-Large Council seat in 2001, serving in that position until June of 2009. Formerly, Ruben had the distinction of serving as the City’s youngest Council President for two terms.


In 2008, Ruben was sworn in as New Jersey State Assemblyman, representing the 33rd District. As a member of the State Legislature, Ruben is privileged to serve as Vice-Chair of the Appropriations Committee and as a Member of Education Committees.


Ruben currently serves as an educator in the City of Paterson’s school system. Furthermore, he earned a B.A. in Political Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University.


More significant than holding elected office, Ruben is a cancer survivor, having been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Disease in 1999.


Ramos resides in the southwest section of Hoboken with his wife Norma, stepdaughter Gail and two children, Isabel and Ryan.
